HOW IT BEGAN
On October 16, 2020 life as our family knew it suddenly changed forever.
Our 23 year old daughter, Carly, was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, Osteosarcoma, in her right knee. In a matter of 3 days, we uprooted our life and moved to Houston, Texas for her to receive treatment at MD Anderson for 9 months. Her treatment consisted of 18 rounds of chemotherapy along with an extensive reconstructive limb salvage surgery on her right leg. It didn't take long for me to realize how much time I would have on my hands. Between sitting in our apartment due to COVID-19 restrictions, or staying many days and nights in the hospital, I needed something to keep me busy. So, I began stitching! I wanted something small to transport back and forth to the hospital, so I started with hair bows and then added cocktail napkins. I suddenly had quite the inventory with no home for all of the items! After being inspired by a podcast that encouraged me to "dare to dream", I decided to put myself out there and try to sell them and I was beyond humbled by the positive response.
I can say that I literally "stitched through our fight"!
My testimony is that by taking care of Carly, God took care of me.
We just had to keep the Faith.
After a full year of treatment and recovery, WE MADE IT!
Carly is now cancer free and as she puts it "we are back to living the life we love!"
Stitching has been an unexpected blessing in more ways than I could ever express
and I am SO appreciative of the continued support.
I truly believe that no matter what we go through in life,
if we stay faithful to the promise of better days, goodness will come.
Life is a gift.
Each day is to be celebrated.
So, let's add a little more fancy to our lives!
Napkins, hair bows, clothing, wedding handkerchiefs or anything else!
Have your own items to embroider? I love the individual creativity of each piece.
